ASETT’s institutional mission to New York and Boston has strengthened new international partnerships and reinforced growing interest in an economic model based on participation, social innovation and positive impact on communities.
ASETT’s (Arizmendiarrieta Social Economy Think Tank) recent international mission to the United States has placed Spain’s Social Economy model at the heart of the dialogue between Europe and the United States, strengthening cooperation with universities, foundations, public institutions, cooperatives and social organisations committed to building more inclusive, resilient and sustainable economies.
Over the course of several days, the ASETT delegation met with leading figures from the United States’ academic, institutional and social innovation ecosystems, exchanging knowledge and experiences on economic democracy, regional development, quality employment, business innovation, housing, impact finance and strengthening local communities.
Beyond the exchange of knowledge, the mission has helped establish a network of international collaboration focused on identifying shared solutions to global challenges such as growing inequality, the green transition, the transformation of work, access to housing and the development of new purpose-driven business models.
The strong interest shown by universities, foundations, social organisations and public institutions across the United States reflects the growing international recognition of Spain’s Social Economy model as a successful approach that combines economic competitiveness, democratic participation, strong local roots and social impact.
In this context, ASETT continues to establish itself as an international platform that brings together knowledge, business and public institutions, fostering partnerships that promote the exchange of experience, advance applied research and facilitate the transfer of good practices across countries and ecosystems.
The mission to the United States marks another important step in ASETT’s internationalisation strategy, connecting leaders, organisations and regions committed to a different way of creating and distributing value, while reinforcing the role of the Social Economy as a model capable of delivering innovative responses to the major economic and social challenges of the 21st century.
The relationships established during this international mission will continue to develop over the coming months through new cooperation initiatives, knowledge exchanges and joint projects. Together, these efforts will help strengthen transatlantic dialogue and further position the Social Economy as an international benchmark for building economies that are more inclusive, democratic and sustainable.
