We have confirmed the official incorporation of Catalonia into our project, a milestone announced by the President of the Government of Catalonia, Salvador Illa. This addition is not merely symbolic; it brings together two leading regions in the cooperative movement, connecting the Basque Country and Catalonia as part of our shared mission.

The figures reflect the importance of this agreement: Catalonia is home to 19.1% of Spain’s cooperatives, generates 6% of the country’s employment, and contributes more than 8% of Spain’s GDP through the Social Economy.

The agreement establishes a shared commitment to promote a model that puts people at the centre, generating growth that benefits society as a whole. Guided by the principle that “together we are stronger,” both institutions will work together in the fields of cooperativism, social innovation and the Social Economy to scale solutions that are already working at the regional level.
