Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labour and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz, will participate in the First ASETT (Arizmendiarrieta Social Economy Think Tank) International Social Economy Forum, to be held on 29 and 30 May in San Sebastián.

More than one hundred international leaders from over 30 countries are expected to address 11 social challenges during the event, which, according to ASETT, will make the Gipuzkoa capital “the centre of the debate on the role of the Social Economy in reducing inequalities and promoting social and labour inclusion.”

The opening session, at 9:00 a.m. on 29 May, will be led by the President of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, Eider Mendoza; Deputy Lehendakari Mikel Torres; Director of the San Sebastián Strategy Office, Kepa Korta; Secretary of State for the Social Economy, Amparo Merino; President of CEPES, Juan Antonio Pedreño; President of Kooperatiben Kontseilua, Patxi Olabarria; President of the MONDRAGON Congress, Leire Mugerza; and Director-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion at the European Union, Mario Nava.

On Friday 30 May, Díaz will chair the first meeting of ASETT’s International Advisory Council at 10:30 a.m. From 11:00 a.m., she will take part in a session entitled “Ministerial Dialogue: Public Policies for the Social Economy.”

She will be joined by Dione Aliou, Minister of the Social Economy of Senegal; Patrick Kiburi Kilemi, Principal Secretary of Kenya; Enas Dahadha Attari, Minister of Labour of the Palestinian Authority; Gilberto Carvalho, Brazil’s National Secretary for the Solidarity Economy; and Maxime Baduel, France’s Ministerial Delegate for the Social and Solidarity Economy.

The Second Deputy Prime Minister will also present the conclusions of the Forum, where 37 case studies organised around 11 social challenges will be presented, before officially closing the event at 1:00 p.m.
